Kazuri Beads & Metalcraft by DeZine Trunk Show!

The Bead Studio will be hosting a trunk show from Kazuri Beads and Metalcraft by DeZine April 1st - 15th

Kazuri
A Symbol of Women Changing the World

Kazuri Ltd is a member of the Fair Trade Federation. The Kazuri factory is tucked away in the rolling hills outside Nairobi, Kenya. Here, the gorgeous handcrafted ceramic beads and jewelry are made from African clay, dug by hand, from Mount Kenya. Kazuri produces a wide range of handmade, hand-painted ceramic beads that shine like a kaleidoscope of African colors. Each bead is shaped individually by hand without the aide of molds, forms, or any modern machinery. They are then painted with high gloss paint, and glazed to produce a smooth, shiny decorated bead. This project began in 1975 to help disadvantaged women of the Kikuyu Tribe. The profound difference this art has made in the lives of these women is very powerful.

Metalcraft by DeZine
Handcrafted Metal Components made in Africa

These brass and copper components are formed by hand, burnished, polished and then dipped in an anti-tarnish lacquer creating an elegant, high quality metal art. These pieces are made in a small village in South Africa by local craftspeople, utilizing Fair Trade Standards to provide meaningful employment for approximately 100 members of the community.

By purchasing Metalcraft by DeZine and Kazuri Beads you are supporting these craftspeople and their families and their continuation of their work preserving a wonderful traditional art form.
